With a quarter century under his belt as a self-described “drum-n-bass narrator”, Canadian-based Valiant Emcee has carved out a unique space for himself in the realm of DnB vocalism. With years of work as a promoter, emcee, podcaster, broadcaster, and recording artist, his voice is among the continent’s most distinctive. After cutting his teeth in the late 1990’s on Buffalo’s long running DnB radio show “Underground FM”, he cemented his musical identity as the resident MC for the city’s legendary Return and Factory weeklies in the 2000’s, and playing across North America, before taking a lengthy hiatus. Upon his return to drum-n-bass, he resumed hosting sets for some of the biggest artists in the genre before starting up his renowned podcast “The Vocal”, which quickly moved to the UK’s iconic Kool FM. Since then he’s released on such labels as Fokuz, Soul Deep, Liquid Bass, and Millennium Jazz. He’s also taken part in the American edition of Bellyman’s Car Bars, and started a weekly live streaming talk show, “Roti and Poutine” with fellow MC greats Armanni Reign and T.R.A.C. In 2020, he joined North America’s longest running drum-n-bass show, The Prophecy, on CIUT 89.5fm, now in its 29th year. Now in 2023, Valiant Emcee has a string of releases lined up, including collaborations with T.R.A.C., Collette Warren, and MC Tali, and is about to reissue his first EP, “The Ronin”, along with its remixes. He also continues work on his first proper full-length album, which will see release on Spynal Records. Stay tuned for more news.
